Code Of Ethics

The aim of this Code is to maintain high standards, ethics and practices in digital news publishing and does not constitute any attempt to involve itself with operations of other publishers.

The basic precepts of the Code of Ethics are to ensure the standards of digital publishing as well as protect and maintain the freedom of journalists, content writers and publishers.

1. Digital news websites follow the laws of the country including the Constitution of India, the relevant laws relating to the media, relevant provisions of IPC and CrPC as well as the IT Act, 2000, where applicable.
2. Accuracy, Transparency is the essence of digital Media . Pre-publication verification should be mandatory. Defamation to be avoided. Adherence to relevant laws and rules is necessary.
3. Take down, delete or edit if news report or article is found to contain false or inaccurate information. On approach by the concerned person/party and after subsequent verification, the portion of the news report or article may be edited or deleted.
4. Respect Intellectual Property Rights-
   1. Copyright in publication must be respected and proper acknowledgement of the ownership rights to be maintained.
   2. Trade Marks and Service Marks of third parties not to be used except with prior permission.
5. Care to be taken for reporting sensational matters and crime.
6. Special care to be taken while reporting on sexual harassment in workplace, rape and child abuse etc.
7. The Information Technology Act, 2000 to be abided by.
8. Training and capacity Building with Editorial staff about existing laws including Constitution of India, the laws relating to the media like The Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, RTI Act, Copyright Act, relevant provisions of Indian Penal Code and CrPC, civil and criminal defamation, IPR, Juvenile justice, POCSO, relevant provisions in respect of reporting on rape and molestation, harassment in the work place, caste or gender related crime etc.-
   1. Names of victims and details leading to identification of victims or perpetrator, if juvenile or in the workplace, to be strictly avoided.
   2. Photographs of victims, their residence, workplace, etc to be completely avoided.
   3. Special care and caution must be exercised at all times while reporting matters related to communal or religious disputes/clashes. Such things if reported must ensure proper verification. Every attempt should promote communal harmony and peace.
   4. Respect for privacy specially in respect of persons not so familiar in public life.
   5. Special care in reporting on sub-judice matters.
